Field Trip to Majette Park February 14, 2026

Saturday, February 14, 2026 Field trip to Majette Park 8:00AM located on John Pitts Road
off U.S. Hwy 231. Pam Overmyer will lead us into the old Bay Dunes Golf Course, which
has been converted into a walking park and disc golf course. Meet at 7:20AM at the
Panama City Mall on the north side of Dillard’s parking lot (near 23 rd St.) to carpool or
caravan to the park, about 10 miles up Hwy 231. We will leave there at 7:30 sharp. You
can drive directly to the park if you know where it’s located. Instead of turning into the
main entrance to Majette Park, go a little further down John Pitts Road to the next small,
paved road to the right and park in the small parking area up the hill. That’s where we
will meet up at 8:00. Some of the paths are paved but some may be muddy, depending
on the weather. We will be walking on dirt and grass most of the time. We have
binoculars to lend. Bring rain gear, depending on the weather forecast. In recent years,
vermillion flycatchers have been seen there.
